What are Terp Pearls?

Terp pearls, otherwise referred to as terp balls or dab balls, are little spheres made from durable materials that enhance your dab experience. Useful in both traditional bangers and eRigs they spin around during your hit helping to distribute your concentrates for efficient extraction. Additionally Ruby, Sapphire and Nano Gem terp pearls are better at retaining heat than quartz meaning they'll help keep your dab in the perfect temperature range for longer.

Terp Pearl Materials

There are a wide variety of terp pearls out there depending on your personal preferences. We've seen glass pearls, quartz terp pearls, ruby pearls, sapphire pearls, nano gem terp pearls, stainless steel terp pearls, titanium pearls, silicone carbide terp pearls and lots of other fun experimental materials. An important factor when selecting a terp pearl material is that it has the ability to withstand the extreme temperatures inside your banger or eRig bowl and won't release any harmful vapors when heated.

How do I use Terp Pearls?

Generally we find that eRigs and eNails provide regulated temperatures and smooth heating and cooling which allows you to place a terp pearl in before you power up and leave it in until you're ready to clean. For an e-Rig with powerful induction heating and a large dish such as the Dr. Dabber Switch 2 we like larger 5mm or 6mm terp pearls which retain tons of heat allowing you to drop temperatures ridiculously low. For a more portable option like the Puffco New Peak we prefer a 3mm ruby pearl (or 2 or 3) for maximum movement.

When using terp pearls in a banger it's important to make sure you have swirling airflow to get the maximum benefit. Some quartz bangers have directional air slits in them while others rely on the carb cap for the air movement. No matter what quartz nail you're using, we like to test our setups out at room temperature to make sure everything is functioning perfectly before we break out the torch.

Terp Pearl FAQs

What is the best terp pearl?

While the best is very subjective, we are pretty partial to ruby terp pearls because of their vibrant red color and great job of retaining heat during a dab. Sapphires pearls and clear sapphire perform the same if those match your setup better. Other than that we love nano gem pearls which offer vibrant colors and excellent heat retention.

How many terp pearls can I use at one time?

As many as you want! Especially when using smaller 3mm & 4mm terp perls we love to double or triple up inside the dish for tons of movement and extra heat retention. We've also seen people load their buckets up with so many ruby and pearl that there wasn't any movement but a crazy amount of heat retention for low temp cold start dabs.

Are any terp pearls dangerous?

There are some materials that are potentially dangerous as terp pearls, either due to the likelihood that they explode at higher temperatures or as a result of any off-gassing that occurs when heated to dabbing temperatures. We suggest you stick to ruby, sapphire, nano gems, quartz, titanium, stainless steel, silicone carbine, (high quality) glass or any other material that you would be comfortable exposing to such high temperatures.
