Portable Dry Herb FAQs
How are portable dry herb devices heated?
There are a variety of heat sources depending on which device you're considering. All Arizer, Storz & Bickel, and XMAX portable devices operate using a battery for maximum convenience. Vapman devices are heated with a butane torch and Dynavap can operate with a torch, alcohol lamp, induction heater, and lots more!
How do I swap bowls while on the go?
Many portable devices allow you to utilize dosing capsules (or dosing caps for short) which you can pre-fill with your ground herbal material. Then when you're out all you have to do is swap out the caps and you won't have to worry about brushing out any herbal material. This also reduces the cleaning burden on your device so they're really a win-win!
How do I load my device's oven?
Each device is unique, but the general principles are fairly consistent. Importantly, you want to make sure that there is room in the oven for air to circulate which allows you to get a nice and even extraction. While some devices benefit from a light pack, generally we advise against tamping down your flower inside the bowl. For Arizer and Dynavap devices we like to load via the straw method where you inhale the flower into the bowl. This loosely packs the bowl and ensures air can circulate during your hit.
